Megan Park’s crowdpleaser “My Old Ass” was one of the biggest hits at the Sundance Film Festival at the start of the year and is now a No. 1 hit on Prime Video upon its streaming debut on Nov. 7.

You have to be a Prime member to stream the film. You can sign up for a 30-day free trial here.

The coming-of-age comedy, starring Aubrey Plaza, follows 18-year-old Elliot Labrant (Maisy Stella) who, the summer before heading to college, is visited by her 39 year-old self (Plaza) during a mushroom trip. At first, young Elliott doesn’t believe what she’s seeing (it’s not like they share any resemblance) but before long her older self doles out sage advice about what she should and shouldn’t do based on the hindsight she’s learned from her past mistakes.

“My Old Ass” was written and directed by Megan Park, the “Secret Life of the American Teenager” star-turned-filmmaker. At the film’s Sundance premiere, Park said wants “My Old Ass” to feel like an escape from adult life. “I kept thinking about this idea: there was a time when you did something like play pretend with your friends, and then you just never did it again,” she told the audience at the sold-out premiere in Park City. “That made me really emotional.”

In his review, Variety film critic Peter DeBruge writes that “the landscapes alone are enough to make you cry. Odds are good you’ll tear up eventually. It’s that kind of movie, with a twist that redefines which genre audiences had been watching all along.”
